Egypt

 

Money

·        The Egyptian currency is pound; each one US dollar equals approximately L.E 5.7 (Egyptian pounds).

·        You’re free to change any amount of money from any bank or currency exchange offices.

·       The maximum amount of Egyptian Currency you’re allowed to take with you into or out of Egypt is Five Thousand Egyptian pounds.

·       The maximum amount of Foreign Currency you’re allowed to take with you into or out of Egypt is the equivalent to Ten Thousand dollars. In case you are taking Foreign Currency more than the equivalent to Ten Thousand dollars into or out of Egypt, you have to declare that at the Egyptian port and fill a customs verification before being permitted to accompany that amount of money.  

·        These rules are applied to Foreign as well as Egyptian citizens with no exceptions.

·        Any person who doesn’t abide with these rules, is exposing himself to legal questioning.

 

Weather

·        Egyptian summer is hot and dry in most of the country and humid in the Delta and along the Mediterranean coast, Egyptian winter is mild with some rain, but usually there are bright, sunny days and cold nights. There is a short spring and autumn.

Health

·        No specific immunization is required to enter Egypt unless for the persons who have been in an infected area of Yellow Fever and Cholera within six days prior to arrival. These immunizations must be recorded in the International Certificate of Vaccination, the WHO card, issued by the World Health Organization.

·        Persons without the proper immunizations are subject to a 36-hour quarantine at Cairo Airport.

 

What to Wear

·        Egypt is a conservative country and visitors should respect this attitude, no topless or nude bathing is permitted.

·        It is advisable to wear cotton in summer as the heat can be like a furnace. In winter wear layers that can be taken off during the heat of the day and put back on for cool evenings.

·        Wear a hat to protect yourself from the heat of the Egyptian sun.

·        Comfortable shoes, you will be doing a lot of walking and temple floors are far from even.
