Requirements
To acquire the Egyptian Nationality
The Consulate General of the
Arab Republic of Egypt in San Francisco extends its compliments and presents
the following:
1. The
Egyptian law grants the wife of Egyptian citizen the right to acquire the
Egyptian nationality with keeping her original nationality, that is after her
applying and the approval of her husband.
2. The
foreign husband of Egyptian wife does not have the same right.
3.
The applicant has to complete the following form and signed before Consulate Official or before
Notary Public and send it with the following documents:
q Original and a copy of Egyptian
birth certificate of husband.
q Original and a copy of husband’s
father birth certificate or one of his uncles or aunts.
q Original & Copy of Egyptian
Marriage Certificate.
q A copy of Husband's Egyptian
Passport.
q A copy of Wife's Passport.
q Written statement by husband
requesting to grant his wife the Egyptian nationality, and that the couples
have normal marital relations, signed before Consulate Official or before
Notary Public.
q Four recent photographs of wife.
q Cashier Check payable to "Egyptian
Consulate" for $95.00 (personal
checks and money orders are not accepted).
4. The consulate submits the past
documents to the Egyptian ministry of interior affairs. The process to acquire
the Egyptian nationality takes about 2 years form-applying date, within this
period the husband has to submit each 6 months a written declaration of their
marriage.
5.
After that the Egyptian ministry of interior affairs approves to grant the wife
the Egyptian nationality.
