The Requirements to Ship a
Human Remains to Egypt
The
Consulate General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in San Francisco, extends its
compliments and presents the following instructions to the requirements to ship
a human remains of Egyptian Citizens to Egypt: -
1. Proof
of the deceased Egyptian nationality (i.e. Egyptian passport, identification card
etc....)
2. The
cause of death is not a contagious disease.
3. The
consulate issues all the required papers for free but legalizes the
American death certificate and its Arabic translation for $50.00.
4. To obtain
a permit to ship the human remains to Egypt the following documents must be
submitted to the consulate:
q The
Egyptian passport of the deceased person.
q American
certificate of death.
q Certificate
indicating the body does not have a contagious disease.
q Burial
and transit permit from the American authorities.
q Certificate
of embalming and sealed metal casket.
q Burial
and transit permit from the American authorities.
5. Upon
receiving the above document, the consulate translates the death certificate
into Arabic, legalizes the past mentioned documents and issues a permit to ship
the human remains to Egypt.
