Instructions of divorce process

For Egyptian Citizens

The Consulate General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in San Francisco extends its compliments and presents the following instructions to perform divorce at the Egyptian Consulate:

1. The consulate cannot perform divorce process for Christians, however, can authenticate the divorce documents issued by the local authorities.

2. The Egyptian will not process any divorce process without the presence of the spouse, in event the spouse resides in Egypt, the husband may authorize someone to divorce the spouse on his behalf, by giving him a Power of Attorney.

3. To process the divorce at the Consulate, it requires the followings:

q The presence of both parties with their passports.

q The original marriage certificate.

q 4 passport pictures for each of them.

q Fees of $100.00 in Cashier Check or Money orders payable to "Egyptian Consulate". Personal checks are not accepted.

4. The consulate hands copy of divorce certificate to the husband, copy to the wife and sends a copy to be registered in Egypt.
