Requirements

For obtaining Egyptian Birth Certificate

The Consulate General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in San Francisco extends its compliments and presents the following instructions in order to obtain an Egyptian Birth Certificate:

A: For Egyptian Citizens born in the United States of America:

1. To be eligible for an Egyptian Birth Certificate, a proof of citizenship of the father is required like valid Egyptian passport or ID.

2. Obtaining the Egyptian birth certificate is done on 2 steps:

I. Send to the Consulate a letter - during the fist year of the child life - requesting the Birth Certificate Form no. 26. If the request is sent after the end of the first year of the child life, follow the instructions in item III. Enclose with your request the following:

q Cashier Check or Money orders payable to "Egyptian Consulate" for $30.00 for each birth certificate (personal checks are not accepted).

q For mail, please enclose self-addressed stamped envelope to send the form back.

II. Complete the first page of the form and send it back to the consulate with the following:

q Original US birth certificate to be revised and then returned back to you.

q Copy of the valid father's Egyptian passport or ID.

q Copy of mother's passport .

q Copy of the marriage certificate of the parents.

q Copy of the mother's certificate of changing her religion to Islam (If she did so).

q For mail, please enclose self-addressed prepaid express mail .The Consulate will send all these documents to the Ministry of interior affairs in Egypt which issues the birth certificate and send it back to the consulate.

    III.  If  the request is sent after the end of the first year of the child life, please do as follows:
                         -     Send a cashier check or money orders payable to "Egyptian Consulate" for $50.00 for form no. 26 and form no. 40 (personal checks are not accepted).
            -    For mail, please enclose self-addressed stamped envelope to send the form back.
             -    The father shall fill out the 2 forms. Return them to the consulate along with the documents listed in item no. II.

3. The process will take not less than six weeks (6 Weeks) .

4. The Ministry of interior affairs will issue only one original birth certificate for the first time you apply. Do not request more than one form per child if it is the first time to apply for the certificate. If you wish additional certified copy of the birth certificate, you can order it later, after you recieve the original one.

5. We follow the past procedures if the child age is less than 16 years now, if he/she is over 16 years we have to issue a passport or him/her first after get the approval of Egyptian authorities then we follow the past mentioned procedures.
