To apply for the permit from the Egyptian
authorities
For Dual Citizenship Approval
The Consulate General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in San
Francisco extends its compliments and presents the following instructions to obtain
the dual citizenship approval from the Egyptian Authorities in Cairo through
the Egyptian Consulate:
1.
The
Egyptian law permits Egyptian citizens to have another foreign citizenship.
2.
The
Egyptian citizens must obtain the Egyptian authorities permit for dual
citizenship.
3.
The
proof of holding a foreign citizenship is the foreign passport or the
citizenship certificate.
4.
The
permit includes the child less than 18 years and it does include the wife or
the child over 18 years, so each one of them must apply for him or herself.
5.
The
Egyptian law exempts the Egyptian citizen holding another foreign citizenship
from military service.
6.
The applicant has to complete the following form and signed before Consulate Official or before
Notary Public and send it with the following documents:
q The original and a copy of
citizenship certificate (if applicable).
q The original and a copy of the
foreign passport (Must be valid and not expired).
q Copy of Egyptian passport.
q Copy of Egyptian birth certificate
of the applicant.
q Copy of Egyptian birth certificate
of the applicant father or one of his uncles or aunts.
q Copy of Egyptian ID.
q Permission from the husband to his
wife to hold foreign citizenship.
q 4 recent photographs.
q For
mail, please enclose self-addressed prepaid express mail or prepaid certified
mail envelope to send the dual citizenship document back (For FEDEX, AIRBORNE, DHL, UPS please send cashier checks payable to the selected company from the above mentioned
companies. or complete the sender section stating the account number and the
name of the account holder The consulate does not accept any account numbers or
credit cards or personnel checks for the payment to these companies).
7.
The
process consumes about six (6) Weeks pending the approval of the Ministry in
Cairo.
